Bolts Tally Three Power Play Goals in Loss to Marksmen

In a wild back-and-forth scoring affair, the Thunderbolts scored five times, but the Marksmen would emerge with the 7-5 victory. The Thunderbolts return home on Friday, January 31st as they host the Birmingham Bulls for First Responders Night. The Thunderbolts bounced back from multiple deficits in the game, starting in the first period. Down 1-0, Jake Smith's power play goal from Derek Sutliffe and Austin Plevy would tie the game at the 4:15 mark. Down 2-0, Hayden Hulton would score the equalizer, from Stanislav Dzahkov and Seth Swenson at the 7:44 mark. The Marksmen would take a 3-2 lead in the second period, but again the Bolts would tie, as Matthew Stoia buried his first SPHL goal, unassisted at the 8:55 mark. Evansville would take a 4-3 lead late in the period, as Noah Corson potted another power play goal, from Matthew Barnaby and Stoia at the 17:58 mark. With the Thunderbolts getting into penalty trouble, the Marksmen would explode in front with three unanswered goals to take a 6-4 lead. Demico Hannoun would make it 6-5, with a power play from Derek Sutliffe with 5:07 to play, but Fayetteville would add an empty net goal to win, 7-5.

Stoia tallied one goal and one assist. Hulton, Hannoun, Smith, and Corson scored one goal each. Derek Sutliffe tallied two assists, and Braeden Ostepchuk made 25 saves. These two teams meet once again tomorrow night at the Crown Coliseum, puck drop at 5:00 pm CT.
