Toronto Argonauts News Release

TORONTO, ON – With Training Camp less than three weeks away, the Toronto Argonauts have announced the signing of three Import players including former Grey Cup Champion DB Central McClellion, WR Marc Lester and LB Tawambi Settles.

CENTRAL McCLELLION

Ohio State

DB, 5'11", 195 lbs.

A one-time BC Lion, Central McClellion has returned to the CFL to try his luck at another Grey Cup ring. The 28 year old DB signed with BC on August 22, 2000 and stayed there long enough to record one tackle in the Grey Cup Championship game against Montreal. Originally selected in the third round of the 2000 NFLE Free Agent Draft, McClellion contributed 11 tackles and three knock-downs before an injury sidelined him in Week 5 of the Scottish Claymores' World Bowl 2000 season. Prior to NFL Europe, he was signed by the Cleveland Browns as rookie free agent on April 23, 1999 but was released before the start of the 1999 campaign. McClellion spent the 2001 season protected on the Scottish Claymores' roster (NFLE). As an Ohio State Buckeye, McClellion's career statistics included 47 games, three starts, 85 total tackles, 56 solo, one interception, and one fumble recovery. The brainy DB was recognized in 1998 by the OSU Athletic council for his academic achievement.

MARC LESTER

Morgan State

WR, 6'4", 200 lbs

A former NFL'er, Lester Signed with the Baltimore Ravens on July 25, 2002 before he was waived on August 31 and was re-signed to the practice roster on September 10, 2002. The Morgan State alum was assigned to the Frankfurt Galaxy of the NFLE in 2003 where he led his club in receptions with 45, good for second in the League. As wide receiver at Morgan State, although he spent some time at QB as a freshman, Lester crushed the all-time school reception record hauling in 138 receptions, and set a new school record for receiving yards in a single game with 243 yards in 1998. Lester also owns the Morgan State record for longest punt return at 89-yards. Lester attended Harrisburg High School in Pennsylvania where he was a state track champion.

Tawambi Settles

Duke

LB, 6'3", 199 lbs.

Settles, who was signed to the Atlanta Falcons practice squad last January, injured his knee in training camp and missed both of the preseason games. The 6-3, 199 lbs. linebacker originally signed with the Detroit Lions (NFL) as a rookie free agent from Duke in 1997 but was waived prior to the start of the regular season. He signed with the Green Bay Packers practice squad early in 1998 and later was signed to the Jacksonville active roster where he played in seven games. Settles did not participate in any camps in 1999 but was in camp with the New York Giants in 2000 and the Seattle Seahawks in 2001. He played with the New York/New Jersey Hitmen of the XFL in 2001.
