Blues Recall Yan Stastny From Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. (October 27, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has recalled forward Yan Stastny from the Blues American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Stastny, 27, has played in eight games this season with Peoria registering nine points (three goals, six assists) along with two penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-0, 192-pound center played 34 games with the Blues recording seven points (three goals, four assists) and 21 penalty minutes before playing the final 30 games of the year with the Rivermen. He scored 12 goals and added seven assists during the regular season before collecting four points (two goals, two assists) in six playoff games.

The Quebec City, Quebec native was acquired by the Blues from Boston for a 5th round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft. Stastny was originally drafted by the Bruins in the eighth round, 259th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rivermen are on the road this weekend for a pair with the Lake Erie Monsters (Friday - 6:30 p.m., Saturday-12p.m.) before heading to Hamilton, Ontario at 3 p.m. on Sunday. All Rivermen games are broadcast on Hippie 101.1FM as well as online through www.rivermen.net.
