The B-Sens hit the road for Rochester to face the Americans in the first of ten games between the intra-conference rivals. Four goals that went unanswered until midway through the second period would ultimately lead to the demise of Binghamton. Ryan Keller and Geoff Kinrade each scored goals for the B-Sens, while Martin St. Pierre registered two assists in the match.
Friday, Oct. 23: Binghamton 3, Syracuse 4
Shots: Binghamton 45, Syracuse 28
PP: Binghamton 0 for 8, Syracuse 1 for 6
Despite out-shooting Syracuse handsomely, the Crunch's Dan LaCosta stopped 42 of the 45 shots faced on net, helping to lead his team to a 4-3 victory. B-Sens forward Josh Hennessy had a two point night at the Onondaga County War Memorial, recording a goal and assist. Derek Smith and Jesse Winchester, fresh on a two-week conditioning assignment courtesy of the parent Ottawa Senators, also found the net for Binghamton.
Saturday, Oct. 24: Binghamton 5, Hershey 2
Shots: Binghamton 27, Hershey 33
PP: Binghamton 0 for 4, Hershey 0 for 6
The B-Sens defeated by Hershey twice already in the 2009-10 season, hit the ice at the Giant Center in Chocolate Town for their first road match with their East Division rivals. Tomas Kudelka scored two goals to help lead Binghamton to a 5-2 victory. Kaspars Daugavins, Zack Smith and Ryan Keller would also get on the board for the B-Sens. Andy Chiodo stepped in for Mike Brodeur after the first period, stopping all 25 shots faced.
Record: 3-4-2-0
Standings: The B-Sens are currently tied with Syracuse for fifth place in the East (eight points)
THIS WEEK...
Friday, Oct. 30 @ Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers)
Rochester will play their first of five games in the Broome County Veteran's Memorial Arena this coming Friday. Binghamton will look to look for redemption following last week's 4-2 loss to the Amerks. Alexander Salak, the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for October 25 could see action between the pipes for Rochester, who will enter this Friday's match having gone 8-1-1-0 through their first ten games for a league leading 17 points.
SENS SNIPPETS...
Ryan Keller's sixth goal of the season, scored in the B-Sens' 5-2 victory over the Hershey Bears Saturday night, ranks him number one in goals for Binghamton. Keller (6 + 4 10) is currently tied with Martin St. Pierre (4 + 6 10) for the team lead in points. Keller is also the B-Sens +/- leader, currently standing at +7.
Forward Josh Hennessy's scoring touch has returned. In the last four B-Sens games Hennessy registered 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points. The B-Sens match versus the Hershey Bears Saturday was Hennessy's 300th American Hockey League game played in his career.
Jesse Winchester's goal versus the Syracuse Crunch Friday, Oct. 23 was his first American Hockey League goal. In the 2008-09 season Winchester saw action in 76 games with Ottawa, where he scored 3 goals and 15 assists for 18 points.
