Blues Acquire Pascal Pelletier For Brendan Bell

ST. LOUIS (December 8, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has acquired right wing Pascal Pelletier (pas-KAL PEHL-tyay) from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Brendan Bell and forward Tomas Kana. Pelletier will report to the Blues American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Pelletier, 26, has played 25 games this season for the AHL's Syracuse Crunch and recorded 16 points (three goals, 13 assists). Last season, the 5-11, 197-pound left winger notched 55 points (29 goals, 26 assists) and 45 penalty minutes in 71 games with the Rockford IceHogs. Pelletier led the team in goals and power-play goals and was second on the club in points.

The Labrador City, Newfoundland native has played in 13 National Hockey League games with Boston and Chicago. He made his professional debut in 2004-05 with the Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL. He was signed by Boston as an undrafted free agent on Aug. 7, 2006 and went on to play 206 games for the Providence Bruins. He was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks from Boston in exchange for Martin St. Pierre on July 24, 2008.

During his four-plus seasons in the AHL, Pelletier has appeared in 302 games (between Providence, Rockford and Syracuse) and accumulated 241 points (103 goals, 138 assists). He is expected to meet the Rivermen in Texas for their game with the Stars at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
