
Bluefish Sweep Double Header

Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish (19-16, 50-55) swept the Somerset Patriots (18-20, 53-55) in a double header on Sunday. These two squads split the four game weekend series.
Game 1: Bridgeport 4 Somerset 0
In the bottom of the second inning second baseman Brad Boyer hit a RBI single through the right side of the infield to give the Bluefish a 1-0 lead.
The Bluefish added another run in the home half of the third inning as third baseman Luis Lopez slapped a RBI single to make the score 2-0.
Bridgeport tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead 4-0 which would be the final. A run scored on a fielding error by pitcher Sean Green while another run came across on a RBI double by left fielder Kennard Jones.
Paul Oseguera was sharp as he notched his ninth win of the year. He tossed seven innings while striking out nine batters. Green suffered his sixth loss of the season as he hurled six innings and allowed just one earned run.
Game 2: Bridgeport 5 Somerset 4 (13 Innings)
Shortstop Eddie Rogers laced a RBI walk-off single to left field in the bottom of the 13th inning to propel the Bluefish to victory.
In the bottom of the first inning the Bluefish plated two runs to take an early 2-0 lead. Third baseman Luis Lopez smacked a RBI single and center fielder James Simmons laced a RBI
double.
Designated hitter Jesse Hoorelbeke blasted a towering solo home run (16) in the second inning to cut the deficit in half making the score 2-1.
The Bluefish added a run in the third inning as left fielder Joey Gathright hit into a RBI fielder's choice.
Bridgeport tacked on a run in the fourth frame as first baseman Willis Otanez collected a RBI via ground expanding the lead to 4-1.
Somerset tied the contest at 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning as right fielder Colin Curtis, shortstop Yunesky Sanchez and first baseman Corey Smith all notched two out RBI consecutive singles.
The winning pitcher was Dan Serafini as he earned his fifth win of the year. Chase Wright suffered his first loss of the season.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, August 24th when they return home to take on the York Revolution.
