Bluefish four-game winning streak snapped in series opener

(Bridgeport, CT) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (7-6) managed just five hits on the evening as they fell 1-0 in ten innings to the Somerset Patriots (8-5) in the opening game of a three game series at TD Bank Ballpark in a battle of two first place teams in the Liberty Division. David Fischer (0-1) suffered the loss in relief, hitting the only two batters that he faced, while throwing a wild pitch and surrendering an unearned run. Patriots reliever Edwin Quirarte (1-0) picked up the win, hurling one scoreless inning while allowing one hit.

For the 'Fish, Nick Van Stratten led the way with two hits, extending his hitting streak to six games and his on-base streak to ten games. The loss already marked the second time this season that the Bluefish have fallen in ten innings to Somerset. The Bluefish are now 1-3 in extra-inning games played in 2015.

Bridgeport plays the middle game of the weekend series in Somerset tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. and return home to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday, May 15th when they welcome in the Camden Riversharks to begin a four-game series in the Park City.
