Bluefish Edge Surf in 15 Innings

ATLANTIC CITY _ Hector Kuilan drove in Tony Mota with an RBI single in the top of the 15th inning to lead the Bridgeport Bluefish to a 10-9 victory over the Atlantic City Surf on Monday at Sandcastle Stadium before 1601. The victory gave Bridgeport a three-game sweep of the Atlantic City Surf. The Bluefish are now five games in front of the Long Island Ducks in the race for the second half championship in the North Division of the ALPB. Atlantic City fell to four games behind Camden in the race for the second half championship in the South Division.

Trailing 8-4 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Atlantic City scored five runs in the frame and held a 9-8 advantage going into the ninth inning. With two outs Bridgeport tied the game on a hit and run single by Jose Amado off Surf reliever Randi Mallard. The hit scored Richard Almanzar who raced all the way around from first base to tie the game.

Atlantic City loaded the bases in the 1th inning but Bridgeport turned a double play when Amato speared Brandon Jackson's line drive and turned it into a double play.

Mike Guilfoyle took the victory for Bridgeport; Chris Searle took the loss for Atlantic City

Amado was 4-for-7 for the Bluefish with three RBI; Chad Gambill was 2-for-5 with two RBI for Atlantic City. The game was the longest this season at the Sandcastle and took four hours, 35 minutes to play. The two teams combined for 31 hits.

The Surf, 27-24, now play the next six games on the road against the Nashua Pride and the Somerset Patriots. Bridgeport, 33-17, has won seven in a row. Atlantic City has now lost four games in a row. Bridgeport win the season-series from the Surf eleven games to seven.
