Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

Lakewood, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws (16-34) and the Charleston RiverDogs (33-17), Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, wrapped up their series at FirstEnergy Park with Lakewood winning 2-1 in 10th innings. Lakewood avoided the series sweep and snapped their seven game losing skid with the win.

Derek Brant drew a walk off reliever T.J. Beam (L, 0-2) to lead off the 10th inning. Brad Harman then came up next and laced a line drive RBI base hit into left field. The ball skipped past the diving left-fielder Estee Harris allowing Brant to score the game winning run from first.

Lakewood had the go-ahead run on at third in the eighth inning with one out but couldn't score. Harman led off the inning with a double then moved up third on Timi Moni's sacrifice bunt. After Chris Klemm lined out to second, Mike Dzurilla drew a two out walk to put runners on the corners. Sam Orr then popped out to left to end the inning.

The seventh inning saw the BlueClaws have a runner thrown out at home. With two outs in the inning Carl Galloway connected for a double. Greg Isaacson came in to pinch run for Galloway. Brant then connected for a base hit to right and manager P.J. Forbes sent Isaacson home. Charleston's right-fielder Edwar Gonzalez came up throwing and threw out Isaacson. Isaacson did his best to lodge the ball loose from catcher Irwil Rojas when he collided with him but Rojas was able to hold on to complete the out.

The BlueClaws took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, their first lead of the series. With one out in the inning Doug Gredvig drew a walk then scored on Ryan Frith's RBI double.

The RiverDogs tied it up the very next inning on Tim Battle's RBI double scoring Grant Plumley from first, Battle's sixth RBI in the series.

Starter Andy Baldwin had another solid outing but got the no decision in the game. Baldwin allowed just one run on four hits while striking out four and walking nobody over eight innings. Jacob Barrack (W, 3-1) pitched the final two frames striking out three and allowing only one hit.

The BlueClaws have an off day on Sunday then travel to Hagerstown on Monday to open up a four game series against the Suns. First pitch is at 5:35 p.m. with on-air time at 5:20 p.m. on 1310 WADB and www.blueclaws.com.

This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the great promotions, fireworks every Friday night home game and kids eat free Monday Nights courtesy of Shop Rite. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against the New York Mets affiliate.
