The Boston Red Sox announced on Saturday that outfielder Matt Van Der Bosch has been promoted to High-A Wilmington.

Van Der Bosch will join the Blue Rocks Saturday in Myrtle Beach (Braves), where the team is amidst playing a three-game stand.

The Oral Roberts product was selected in the ninth round of the 2004 Major League Baseball draft by the Boston Red Sox. He proceeded to be tabbed as the Red Sox Minor League Player of the Year for Lowell after ranking second in stolen bases (28) and tying for second in triples (6) in the New York-Penn League.

The 23-year old outfielder batted .290 with one home run, eight doubles, and three triples in 35 games for the Greenville Bombers. He also led the team with eight stolen bases and ranked second in on-base percentage with a .427 clip.

Van Der Bosch became the fourth Greenville Bomber to be promoted this season by succeeding former Bombers Wade Miller, Bryan Pritz, and Mitch Stachwosky.

In a conjunctive move, 21-year old outfielder Chris Turner has been called up from Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers to fill out the Bombers' roster.

Turner, a 15th round pick in 2003, batted .241 with five home runs in 42 games for Lowell last season.
