Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - The BlueClaws got a pair of 2-1 wins on Wednesday, sweeping a double-header at Hudson Valley.
Jersey Shore (21-31) has now won three of their last four games and improved to 5-3 against the Renegades (25-28) this year.
Game One
The BlueClaws won game one 2-1, rallying for two, two-out runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Carlos De La Cruz homered to tie the game on a 2-2 pitch with two outs in the seventh, with the BlueClaws down to their final strike.
DJ Stewart followed De La Cruz with a single and then stole second for his 13th stolen base of the year. Freylin Minyety, added to the roster on Tuesday, then singled home Stewart with the game winning run. It was the first walk-off win of the season for the BlueClaws.
JP Woodward (3-3), who threw a scoreless seventh, earned the win. Dominic Pipkin gave up one run in three innings and Carlo Reyes followed with three scoreless innings for the BlueClaws.
Casey Martin had two hits and his ninth stolen base of the year.
The BlueClaws were the home team since this game was the make-up of a game rained out in Lakewood on May 7th.
Game Two
Griff McGarry (1-2) struck out nine over six innings, allowing just one run in the 2-1 game two victory.
Jersey Shore jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Karl Ellison scored on a wild pitch for the game's first run and Ethan Wilson followed with an RBI double.
A SAC fly from Christian Perez brought home the first Renegades run in the fifth. It was the only run allowed by McGarry. The right-hander from the University of Virginia gave up three hits and struck out nine over six innings of work.
Aidan Anderson put two on in the ninth but earned his third save of the year, all since Friday.
The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Cristian Hernandez is the scheduled Jersey Shore starter.
