Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Lakewood BlueClaws, class-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, have added reliever Kyle Allen, outfielder Chris Klemm and reliever Jake Tompkins to the roster. All three will be active for Monday's match up against the Lexington Legends at 7:05 p.m.

Allen joins the BlueClaws pitching staff after being activated off the disabled list from Clearwater Fla. Last season, the southpaw appeared in 14 games with Batavia, going 2-3 and posting a 3.46 ERA in 93 innings of work. A 16th round draft choice in 2004 by the Phillies, Allen had been previously selected by Cleveland (2001) and Colorado (2003) but did not sign.

Klemm began the season with high-A Clearwater and returns to the BlueClaws after 63 games with Lakewood last season, but finished the last 10 games of the year with Clearwater. Klemm started 2005 hitting .191 with one double and playing all three outfield positions, first base and designated hitting for the Threshers. Last season with the BlueClaws, Klemm hit .304 with 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 33 RBI. Klemm was signed by the Phillies as a free agent in 2003.

Also joining the club from Clearwater, right-handed reliever Jake Tomkins. This season in the Florida State League, Tompkins has only worked 5.2 innings with an ERA of 9.53, allowing 10 hits, seven runs (6 earned), striking out four and walking seven. Tompkins is a 2003 draft choice of the Phillies, selected in the 32nd round.

Reliever Jose Correa has been sent to extended Spring Training in Clearwater, Fla. Outfielder Jason Crosland and reliever Justin Cerrato have been released by Philadelphia.
