LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Aug. 25, 2012) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators managed just three hits as the Lakewood BlueClaws earned a shut out win, 4-0, on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park. The BlueClaws lead the series, two games to one.
Lakewood struck for an early 2-0 lead on a pair of second inning solo home runs by Willie Carmona (2) and Gabriel Lino (7). Alejandro Villalobos added an RBI-double in the third inning for a 3-0 lead.
Lakewood starter Hoby Miler (5-3) kept the Intimidators off the scoreboard over 6.0 innings of work, allowing two hits while striking out six and walking two to earn the win. Yari Sosa and Zach Cooper combined to work three scoreless innings of relief.
After allowing three early runs, Kannapolis starter Jarrett Casey (5-7) faced the minimum over the middle innings before allowing another run in the seventh. He finished his night giving up four runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 7.0 innings in a losing effort. Mitch Mustain tossed a scoreless inning of relief for Kannapolis.
The Intimidators wrap up this 4-game series against the BlueClaws on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park as LHP Matt Lane (3-5, 5.00) faces Lakewood's RHP Gabriel Arias (4-8, 3.82). The Intimidators return to CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Tuesday, Aug. 28, to face the Greenville Drive to open the final home stand of the season.
