BlueClaws Blow 6-1 Lead in Loss

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Sand Gnats scored three runs in the 6th inning and four runs in the 7th inning to erase a 6-1 deficit and win 9-8 Monday against the BlueClaws.

Savannah scored an unearned run in the 9th inning on no hits and two errors to turn an 8-8 tie into a 9-8 lead. The BlueClaws did not score in the bottom of the 9th inning after getting two batters aboard to snap their five-game winning-streak.

Chris Duffy went 4-for-5 for Lakewood with a pair of homers, and his average is now up to .398 on the season. He hit two singles and two home runs for his 7th and 8th homers of the season to go along with five RBI and two runs scored. In the first three games of the series against Savannah, Duffy is 11-for-13 with 12 RBI, a double, three home runs and five runs scored.

Despite the loss, the BlueClaws are in a three-way tie for first place with the Hickory Crawdads and Hagerstown Suns in the South Atlantic League North Division.

The BlueClaws and Sand Gnats will conclude their four-game series Tuesday with Game 4 at FirstEnergy Park. Hoby Milner (1-1, 4.05) enters off a win in his most recent start, and he will face Savannah's Jacob DeGrom (4-3, 2.57).
