Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws shut out Hagerstown 8-0 on Thursday night in a game shortened to six innings by rain. In the process, the BlueClaws snapped a five-game losing streak and snapped Hagerstown's seven-game winning streak.

The BlueClaws jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Zach Green.

Malquin Canelo followed in the second inning with his second professional home run (the first was 8/30/13 with Willamsport) that put the BlueClaws up 4-0 after two.

That was all Ranfi Casimiro (5-9) needed. The 22-year old right-hander threw six scoreless innings allowing one hit and walking six. He gets credit with a complete game shutout, the first by a BlueClaw since Jarred Cosart threw a seven-inning shutout in a double-header win on June 1st, 2010.

Lakewood (20-34/47-76) added four runs in the sixth inning, one on an RBI single by Aaron Brown, another on an RBI single by Andrew Pullin, one on a bases loaded walk to Dylan Cozens, and a fourth on a fielders choice groundout by Zach Green.

Aaron Brown, Phillies 3rd rd pick this year from Pepperdine, went 2-4 in his BlueClaws debut. Willians Astudillo's 12-game hitting streak was snapped after Astudillo went 0-4.

Hagerstown (35-19/79-45) starter Nick Pivetta allowed four runs in five innings and fell to 12-8 on the season.

The series continues on Friday night at 7:05 pm. LHP Matt Imhof (0-1) makes his 6th start with the BlueClaws and will oppose RHP Wander Suero (3-0).
