Blue Sets NBA D-League Attendance Record in Loss to Reno

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue fell to the Reno Bighorns, 126-122, on Thursday at Chesapeake Energy Arena in front of a crowd of 12,727, a new NBA Development League regular season single-game record for attendance.

The team's annual Thunder Field Trip day game drew students from 124 schools from across the state of Oklahoma, including a school in Eagletown, Oklahoma, which is nearly 250 miles away from the arena. The previous NBA D-League attendance record of 11,423 was set by the Blue franchise on March 11, 2014.

"It was an awesome atmosphere and a great experience for our players, staff and everyone affiliated with the Blue," said Blue Interim Head Coach Jarell Christian. "We got to play in an NBA arena with thousands of screaming fans and their energy was electrified. Thank you to all of the schools and students who came out to support the Blue and the Thunder."

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Mitch McGary scored 24 points with eight rebounds while fellow Thunder assignment Josh Huestis compiled 18 points and five boards. Dwight Buycks totaled 24 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Dakari Johnson produced 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks while Marquis Teague tallied 11 points and nine assists. Off the bench, Tomislav Zubcic scored 14 points and Boubacar Moungoro added 10.

The Blue jumped out to a 35-29 lead after the opening quarter and took a 68-66 advantage into halftime. A 22-10 burst out of halftime gave Reno the lead, going ahead by as many as 13. The Blue fought back using a 19-6 run in the fourth quarter to go ahead 114-112 with 5:40 remaining in the fourth.

The Bighorns responded by outscoring the Blue 12-5 over the next five minutes, but a clutch three by Buycks brought the game to within two with 15.8 seconds to play. Reno sunk a pair of foul shots on its next possession and held the Blue scoreless in the final seconds to claim the win.

Oklahoma City (15-26) dished out 27 assists and blocked 10 shots.

Reno (26-14) was led by Erick Green with 30 points.
