
Blue Jays Top Miracle, 3-1, on Monday Evening

DUNEDIN, Fla (June 29, 2015) - The Dunedin Blue Jays limited the Fort Myers Miracle offense to just one run on seven hits in a 3-1 victory at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium on Monday night.
Anthony Alford jump-started the Blue Jays offense in the first with a lead-off double against Miracle starter Kohl Stewart. Christian Lopes then advanced Alford to third base with a ground out to second. Then, Rowdy Tellez hit a sharp grounder to first base. Bryan Haar snagged the ball and initially looked back Alford to third. As Haar went to tag the bag at first, Alford broke for home and scored, 1-0.
Stewart (3-5) allowed a pair of runs to score in the third. Alford started the inning by reaching on an infield single and Lopes followed with a base hit through the left side. Stewart issued a walk to Tellez to load the bases with no outs. On a 2-2 pitch, Matt Dean hit a high chopper to the right side. Ryan Walker ranged to his left to grab the ball, but his throw missed the target at first. Alford scored on the grounder, but Lopes crossed home on the error to put the Blue Jays up 3-0.
Still in a jam with two in scoring position and no outs, Stewart worked out of the third and strung together a nine consecutive outs before giving up a single in the sixth. Over six frames, Stewart surrendered three runs, two earned, on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts in a losing effort.
Dunedin starter Jeremy Gabryszwski held the Miracle off the board through the first five innings. In the sixth, the offense broke through with one out. Engelb Vielma coaxed a walk from Gabryszwski (5-5) and then moved to third on a base hit through the right side from Walker. Alex Swim then doubled into the right center gap to bring in Vielma, 3-1. Gabryszwski then hit Marcus Knecht with a pitch, but worked out of a bases loaded jam.
In six innings, Gabryszwski allowed just the one run on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
In the final three innings neither bullpen allowed a run. Alex Muren and D.J. Johnson each pitched a scoreless frame for the Miracle. Miguel Castro went two innings for the Blue Jays and Arik Sikula recorded the final three outs for his first save of the season.
