PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Andrew Pullin notched his second three-hit day in the past three games, leading the offense in a 3-1 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Monday night.

Clearwater (4-1) has taken two of the first three contests at Charlotte. Pullin finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI's.

Hoby Milner made the start for Clearwater, his first this season after spending the entirety of the first half in the bullpen for the Reading Fightin Phils. Milner worked three scoreless frames, permitting just a pair of singles. He finished having thrown 29 pitches, 22 of which were strikes.

Pullin gave him a lead to work with before Milner stepped foot on the mound. After Carlos Tocci grounded a one-out single up the middle, Pullin shot a double up the first base line to bring Tocci across and give Clearwater a run in the opening frame.

The Threshers grabbed another an inning later, after a single, hit batsman, and a bloop hit loaded the bases with one out. Malquin Canelo worked a full count and lifted a sacrifice fly to deep center, allowing Willians Astudillo to score from third to make it 2-0.

Tocci lined the next pitch toward center, but centerfielder Braxton Lee robbed him of a pair of RBI's by making a diving grab to end the inning.

Pullin boosted the advantage to three in the fifth, coming through with an RBI single to right-center to plate Canelo.

Yacksel Rios (3-2) gave Clearwater four solid innings in relief, holding Charlotte to just a run on two hits. His only blemish was in the fifth inning, when Jace Conrad scored on a wild pitch.

Charlotte (1-4) threatened by bringing the tying run to the plate in each of the final four innings, and had the potential winning run at the plate in the ninth. Edubray Ramos kept them in check, inducing a ground out from Maxx Tissenbaum to end the ballgame and earn his seventh save.

Clearwater will wrap up the four-game set at Charlotte on Wednesday, with David Whitehead (4-6) toeing the rubber. First pitch is set for 7 p.m., and the call can be heard live on the Threshers Broadcast Network starting at 6:45 p.m.
