
Blue Crabs Win 4-3 Over Patriots

WALDORF , MD- The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-3 in front of 4,334 fans at Regency Furniture Stadium on Friday evening.
Somerset struck first with a run in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead when third baseman Teuris Olivares drew a two out walk, stole second and scored on an RBI single to center by first baseman Travis Anderson.
Southern Maryland tied the game at 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the second inning when leftfielder James Shanks led off with a single to right, stole second and third and scored on a one out RBI single to right by designated hitter Brent Krause.
The Patriots plated a run in the top of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead when leftfielder Noah Hall crushed a two out solo home run (5) to left.
The Blue Crabs scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2 when shortstop Travis Garcia reached on a one out fielder's choice, advanced into scoring position on an infield single to third by first baseman Michael Tucker and scored on an RBI fielder's choice to shortstop off the bat of Shanks.
Southern Maryland tallied two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead when Krause led off with double to right center and scored on a one out two run home run to left by rightfielder John Ramistella (20).
Somerset got a run back in the top of the eighth inning to cut the Blue Crabs' lead to 4-3 when third baseman Elliott Ayala led off with a single to center, stole second and later scampered home on a bases loaded double play ground ball to shortstop off the bat of Hall.
Blue Crabs starter Randy Keisler (2-2) picked up the win, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three and walking three in seven innings of work. Patriots' starter Brian Adams (13-7) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on 13 hits while walking none and striking out six in seven innings pitched. Blue Crabs' reliever Dane De La Rosa pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the year.
With the loss the Patriots dropped to 36-23 in the second half and 79-50 overall while the Blue Crabs dropped to 32-26 and 74-54 overall.
