Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

As the Blue Crabs prepare for their first ever playoff appearance less than two weeks away, they ended their season-high eight game losing streak with an exclamation point on Friday night at Regency Furniture Stadium in Southern Maryland. John Ramistella blasted a two-run homer to left field in the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie, and ahead 4-3 in the top of the ninth, flame-throwing right-hander Dane De La Rosa slammed the door with a 1-2-3 inning for his first save as a Blue Crab.

Somerset jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second off Blue Crabs lefty starter Randy Keisler. Travis Anderson stroked an RBI single to give the visitors the early advantage. With the game tied 1-1 in the third, Keisler allowed his final run of the night on a two-out, solo home run to left field by Noah Hall to put the Patriots back on top. After walking three and allowing two earned runs in the first three innings, Keisler was lights out for the rest of his appearance. The former Yankee and veteran of parts of six Major League seasons pitched four more scoreless innings to finish his outing. In seven innings, Keisler (2-2) struck out three to earn the win.

The Blue Crabs scoring plays included an RBI single from Brent Krause in the second, tying the game 1-1 at the time, and an RBI fielder's choice from James Shanks in the fifth which tied things up again 2-2 off Patriots southpaw starter Brian Adams. With the same score in the sixth, Ramistella smacked his 20th homer of the season with Brent Krause on base after a leadoff double to the right-field gap.

In seven innings, Adams (13-7) took the loss allowing 13 hits but no walks with six strikeouts. All four runs were earned. After Somerset tacked on a run in the eighth, De La Rosa got the first two batters of the ninth to fly out before striking out Jon Nelson to end the ballgame.

The Blue Crabs will next be in action Saturday evening for a double-header, making up Thursday night's rain out. Each game is scheduled for seven innings. Probable starters for game one are RHP Josh Miller (9-4, 3.01) for Somerset, and RHP Ryan Bicondoa (9-6, 4.67) for Southern Maryland, and game two will feature RHP Jared Gothreaux (7-8, 4.92) for the Patriots and RHP Jarrett Grube (3-1, 3.57) for the Blue Crabs.
