
Blue Crabs Lose Fifth Straight to Bridgeport

(Waldorf, MD. July 21st, 2015) --- Southern Maryland came in having lost four straight to Bridgeport, and once again lose to the Bluefish by the final of 5-2 tonight at Regency Furniture Stadium.
The ballgame was flying by with both teams being held scoreless until the top of the sixth. With one out, Bryant Nelson singled with one out and later stole second. Two batters later Wilson Batista drove in Nelson with a single to make it 1-0. Jobduan Morales then singled to put two runners on base. Andres Rodriguez then drove a bullet homerun over the wall to make it 4-0.
In the bottom of the frame, Southern Maryland scored a run on an RBI single by Fred Lewis to make it 4-1. Fast forward to the eighth, LHP Brian Burres was knocked out of the game because of a Jobduan Morales RBI single to make it 5-1. In the bottom half, Fred Lewis homered over the wall in left center to make it 5-2, but the Blue Crabs left two runners on and went down 1-2-3 in the ninth.
RHP Cameron Loe picked up his second straight against Southern Maryland, going eight innings, allowing two runs on five hits, and striking out six. LHP Brian Burres went 7.2 innings, allowing five runs, on eight hits, and striking out eight. Neither team offensively had an extra base hit.
Game three of the series will take place tomorrow night at Regency Furniture Stadium. The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
