
Blue Bombers add Jason Bray

WINNIPEG, MB â The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today added an experienced defensive back to its practice roster with the addition of Jayson Bray.
Bray (5-11, 190, Auburn '98, DOB: Mar. 7, 1976 in La Grange, GA) is a hard-hitting defensive back that comes to Winnipeg after most recently playing for the Georgia Force in the Arena Football League.
He has played in 34 CFL regular-season games and one playoff contest.
THE AFL YEARS â GEORGIA FORCE â 2004
Bray had his second tour of duty with the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League in 2004. Playing both sides of the football, he had 13 defensive tackles and six receptions for 65 yards.
THE CFL YEARS â BRITISH COLUMBIA LIONS â 2003
Bray joined the British Columbia Lions Sept. 25, 2003 after spending a week on the practice roster of the Edmonton Eskimos. He appeared in five regular-season games for the Lions plus the 2003 East Division Semifinal.
In those five regular-season battles, Bray had 13 defensive tackles, a pass knockdown and an interception return for zero yards. He added five defensive tackles and a tackle for a loss of three yards in the East Semifinal.
THE CFL YEARS â EDMONTON ESKIMOS â 2003
Less than a week after being released by the Calgary Stampeders, Bray joined the Edmonton Eskimos practice roster, where he remained for one week.
THE CFL YEARS â CALGARY STAMPEDERS â 2003
Bray played 11 games in his second season with the Calgary Stampeders. He made 30 defensive tackles, three pass knockdowns, two interception returns for one yard and one forced fumble.
The Stamps released Bray on Sept. 10, 2003.
THE CFL YEARS â CALGARY STAMPEDERS â 2002
Bray first came to the CFL in 2002 with the Calgary Stampeders. He signed with Calgary May 30, 2002.
He appeared in all 18 regular-season games for the White Ponies that year, tallying 52 defensive tackles, nine pass knockdowns, six special teams tackles, four tackles for a loss of 24 yards, two fumble returns for 70 yards and a touchdown, two interception returns for 31 yards, one forced fumble and one own team fumble recovery.
THE AFL YEARS â GEORGIA FORCE â 2002
Bray first played in the Arena Football League with the Georgia Force in 2002, recording one fumble return in the lone game he played.
THE XFL YEARS â CHICAGO ENFORCERS â 2001
Bray spent the 2001 season with the Chicago Enforcers of the XFL. He played with former Blue Bombers quarterback Kevin McDougal and CFLers John Avery and Quincy Coleman. Bray had one interception return during his time with the Enforcers.
THE NFL-EUROPE YEARS â FRANKFURT GALAXY â 2000
The Frankfurt Galaxy drafted bray in the 5th Round of the 2000 NFL-Europe Draft. Bray played with former Blue Bombers quarterback Pat Barnes while with Frankfurt.
THE NFL YEARS â NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS â 1999
Bray attended the New England Patriots training camp in 1999 but was released Sept. 7, 1999.
THE COLLEGE YEARS â AUBURN TIGERS
Bray played four years of U.S. College Football for the Auburn Tigers. During his four seasons, he established himself as one of the nation's top defenders.
He played in the Blue-Gray Game for graduating all-stars Dec. 25, 1998. As a junior in 1997, he played in 13 games and made 21 defensive tackles. In his sophomore campaign, he played in nine games and made 41 defensive tackles. He also had four interception returns, one of which he returned 34 yards for a score.
Before joining Auburn, Bray played one year of football for Hargrave Military Academy in 1994.
THE HIGH-SCHOOL YEARS â LaGRANGE GRANGERS
Bray was a three-year starter for the LaGrange High School Grangers in LaGrange, Georgia. He played both defensive back and receiver with the Grangers.
He was a two-time 5A All-State All-Star choice at defensive back. He played in the Georgia-Florida All-State Classic for graduating high-school all-stars. The Atlanta Journal Constitution named Bray to its Georgia Top-50 Team.
Bray had 79 defensive tackles, three interceptions plus 17 receptions and three touchdowns as a senior. He had 27 defensive tackles and two interceptions as a junior to go with 15 receptions and two kickoff return touchdowns.
Bray also competed in baseball, basketball and track-and-field at LaGrange.
