Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Renegades announced Tuesday that fullback Sean Bennett and receiver Curtis Jackson have reported to the team. The Renegades also released safety Michael Gholar Tuesday.
"Sean and Curtis are both quality athletes with significant NFL experience," said Renegades General Manager Eric Tillman. "As they learn our offensive system, they should provide our staff with some interesting options."
Jackson, a 5-foot-10, 194-pound running back and receiver at the University of Texas who also played in the NFL, adds depth to Ottawa's receiver corps. With Sherrod Gideon out earlier in the year due to a hamstring injury, and missing of late due to a quad strain, Jackson provides needed experience.
The 30-year-old was inked to the Renegades practice roster.
Bennett, 27, who played two seasons with the NFL's New York Giants, is a 6-foot-1, 230-pound product of Northwestern University. He reported to the team Monday and, like Jackson, adds depth to the Renegades offence.
Gholar, meanwhile, a 26-year-old rookie, has spent all of 2004 on the practice roster and did not see action through the first six games of the season.
Gholar was signed by the Renegades in January of this year.
