ONTARIO, Calif., Nov. 4, 2018 - The Oklahoma City Blue (2-0) defeated the Agua Caliente Clippers (0-1), 128-118, on Sunday night.
Oklahoma City led by as many as 10 points early in the fourth quarter, but a layup from the Clippers' Sindarius Thornwell trimmed the Blue's lead to three points at 111-108. A layup from Richard Solomon sparked a run from the Blue, helping the team earn its first win against Agua Caliente.
Solomon scored 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go with six rebounds and was one of seven players in double figures for the Blue.
In a high-scoring first half, the teams exchanged blows with four ties and eight lead changes. A buzzer-beating layup from Dez Wells capped a late second-quarter run for the Blue, sending the team into halftime with a 72-68 lead.
Wells led the scoring effort for Oklahoma City with a career-high 25 points to go with seven rebounds off the bench. Two-way player Deonte Burton made his first start of the season, totaling eight points, six rebounds and four assists while Tyler Davis added nine points and three assists.
The Clippers were led by Jerome Robinson who turned in 28 points.
Up next, the Blue returns to Oklahoma City for its home opener on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.
