AUSTIN, TX - The Austin Spurs (0-1), presented by SWBC, fell to the Texas Legends (1-0), 126-120, at the H-E-B Center Saturday evening.
?Jaron Blossomgame paced the Spurs with 31 points (10-15 FG, 2-2 3FG, 9-10 FT), 9 rebounds and 3 assists in 38 minutes, while Julian Washburn chipped in 23 points (10-17 FG, 3-4 3FG) and 5 rebounds in 42 minutes. Amida Brimah started the season with a double-double of 20 points (10-13 FG) and 10 rebounds.
?The first quarter was controlled by the Legends, outscoring the Spurs 33-24. Austin cut into the lead in the second with the help of a 12-2 run halfway through the quarter. After trailing by as many as 17 the second, the Spurs fought back and headed into the half down 62-54.
?The third quarter was characterized by trading runs. The Spurs fought back to tie the game for the first time since the start of the contest, but the Legends led heading into the fourth. The Spurs outscored Texas 34-32 in the fourth but ultimately fell 126-120.
?For the Legends, Daryl Macon finished with 35 points (12-18 FG) and 3 assists in 38 minutes, while Jameel Warney posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds in 34 minutes.
