Stockton Ports News Release

The Stockton Ports were unable to complete the sweep of the Visalia Rawhide on Saturday night as the Rawhide pulled out a 7-4 victory in extra innings. The game went four hours and 16 minutes and 12 innings, saw a combined 11 pitchers and 30 strikeouts.

Ports starter Dan Straily gave up a season high 10 hits, including six doubles, but still managed to escape the game giving up just three earned runs and recorded seven strikeouts. Mike Hart, Josh Lansford, and Mike Benacka combined for four scoreless innings. Connor Hoehn gave up one run, in part due to a questionable called balk. Scott Deal came in for the 12th inning, where a questionable call at second resulted in three runs, resulting in Deal taking his second loss of the season.

Offensively, Petey Paramore went 2-for-5 with a home run for the Ports. Anthony Aliotti went 2-for-6 with an RBI. For the Rawhide, Chris Owings went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and two doubles. Matt Davidson and Alfredo Marte both had two doubles of their own.

Defensively, Anthony Aliotti made one spectacular double play in the ninth. Ranging to his right, he snared a foul ball that was heading into the seats, turned around and threw the runner out at home, preserving the tie and sending the game to extra innings. For the Rawhide, Keon Broxton made two spectacular catches in center field to rob several Ports players of walk-off home runs.

The Ports face Rancho Cucamonga tomorrow as RHP Murphy Smith faces off against RHP Matt Magill for the Quakes at 6:05 p.m.
