Lexington County Blowfish News Release
In front of a sell out crowd of 2,694 the Lexington County Blowfish avenged an 11-inning loss to Gastonia on opening night just three nights ago with a 5-3 win over the Grizzlies tonight.
Both Lexington County and Gastonia got solid pitching out of their starters JP Sears (The Citadel) and Mike Catlin (Longwood) but Sears would steal the victory away from Catlin with the help of a huge home half of the seventh for Lexington County.
Down two in the seventh, Dalton Duty (Valdosta State) would lead the inning off with a walk followed by a Brett Auckland (Presbyterian) single. After a sacrifice bunt and an intentional pass, Gastonia walked in Duty and surrendered the lead on a bases clearing double by Bennette Hill (North Greenville). The Blowfish would add one more in the seventh to extend the lead.
Gastonia would add one in the eighth, but could only muster four hits in the ballgame as Trevor Bradley (Georgia Gwinnett) notched his third consecutive save in as many days and chances.
Lexington County welcomes in Martinsville tomorrow night for a 7:05 start time from Lexington County Baseball Stadium. The Blowfish try to extend their winning streak to four in a row Saturday night. Pregame on the radio begins at 6:45 on z93.1-FM The Lake.
