Blowfish Spoil Bananas' Inaugural Home Opener with 8-5 Win

Lexington County Blowfish News Release

SAVANNAH, G.A. - A near one-hour rain delay dampened the home opener for the Savannah Bananas at Grayson Stadium but the Bananas' inaugural home game was spoiled by Lexington County.

Five Banana errors would doom Savannah as the Blowfish went on to win the inaugural home opener for the Savannah Bananas 8 to 5.

John Kane (Lafayette) faced the minimum through the first three innings for Lexington County and received early run support as Adam Yacek (Miami, OH) and Brett Auckland (Presbyterian) would plate Bennette Hill (North Greenville) and Adam Sasser (Georgia) in the top of the third inning.

The Blowfish added a Chris Singleton (Charleston Southern) sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to extend the lead to three.

But in the home half of the fourth, Savannah cut the Blowfish lead to one after Clay Dungan (Indiana State) and Clint Hardy (Augusta University) scored on back to back at bats.

Kane would shut the door on the Bananas in the fourth striking out Hunter Benning (Mercer University) to end the frame.

Lexington County plated three in the fifth and then two more in the sixth, one of which was Adam Yacek's second home run of the season. The third baseman launched a solo shot down the left field line hooking it around the foul pole to give the Blowfish a 7 to 4 lead.

The Blowfish got solid bullpen work out of Michael Royal (Georgia Gwinnett) and Trevor Bradley (Georgia Gwinnett) who notched his second save in as many nights.

Lexington County comes back home tomorrow night to try and even up the season series with the Gastonia Grizzlies. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05p.m.
