
Blowfish Throttle Copperheads

COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Columbia Blowfish blew by the Asheboro Copperheads 7-2 Friday night at historic Capital City Stadium. The win gives the Blowfish a 3-2 record in the second half and keeps them in second place.
The Blowfish got an extraordinary pitching performance from Derek Beasley. Beasley went eight innings giving up just one run on eight hits while striking out three. Chase Rhitarchik pitched the ninth for the Blowfish and struggled giving up one run on one hit while striking out one and walking two.
Tre-Von Johnson led the way at the plate for the Blowfish going 3-4 with four RBI's. Johnson launched a two run homerun to left in the fourth after the Copperheads had cut the Blowfish lead to one. Gabe Loweree also had a great night at the plate going 3-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.
The Blowfish are on the road on Saturday and Sunday before returning home on Monday to face the Fayetteville SwampDogs at Capital City Stadium. Tickets are available at www.blowfishbaseball.com or by calling 254-FISH.
