
Blowfish Lose in Ninth Against Fayetteville

Fayetteville SwampDogs RF Danny Gesick drove in the game-winning run in the ninth inning, beating the Columbia Blowfish, 7-6, Friday night at Capital City Stadium.
The Blowfish (9-21) got two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth, but SwampDogs' closer Cody Davis retired the final two hitters to secure the victory for Fayetteville (19-11), getting his ninth save of the save.
After Fayetteville scored one in the first, the Blowfish put four runs on the board in the first inning, led by SS Rob Harding, who finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs in Blowfish debut.
Columbia added a run in the second inning, before Fayetteville started chipping away against Blowfish starter John Long. Long went four innings, gave up four runs on eight hits, and struck out four.
The SwampDogs began to chip away at the Blowfish lead, scoring runs in the third and fourth inning, while the Blowfish could only add one run after the second inning.
Columbia was held scoreless by the Fayetteville bullpen in the final five innings, as the SwampDogs managed to tie the game in the eighth inning, before winning in the ninth.
The Columbia Blowfish face the U.S.C. Alumni tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. Gamecock champions Jose Mata, Brady Thomas, Kyle Enders, and Robert Beary highlight the roster for the U.S.C. Alumni. There will be fireworks after the annual battle for the "Gamefish" Trophy.
