PETERSBURG, VA - The Steamers got a two run single in the sixth from Adam Giacalone that gave them the 3-2 lead and the bullpen made it stand up over 2.1 innings in relief of the starter Jordan Glover, who earned his third win of the season in the victory over Petersburg.

Ryan Parker, the shortstop for the Generals tagged Jordan Glover for a single to begin the ball game. The Generals brought Parker around to score on a single and then an RBI fielder's choice by Taylor Buran to give Petersburg a 1-0 lead. The 1-0 lead for the Generals after one inning marked the first time in 2011 the Generals ever had a lead on Edenton; it lasted five innings.

In the top of the second Glover walked Austin McGowan to begin the inning. Nick McQuail singled McGowan to third and Tyler McCarthy reached on an infield single that scored McGowan. The run gave the Generals a 2-0 lead.

Edenton finally broke through against Generals starting pitcher Alex Borgan in the top of the third. Nick Gaeta reached on an error committed by the second baseman McGowan and advanced to third base on a throwing error to the pitcher Borgan. Nathan Burns hit a sacrifice fly to score Gaeta for his fourth RBI of the season to cut the lead to 2-1 Generals.

Through five complete innings Borgan had only allowed one hit to the Steamers, an infield single by Brett Christopher in the third. In the top of the sixth Edenton took the lead. The rally started with a walk to Christopher and continued when Ryan Brenner singled to send Christopher to third. Brenner stole second base, his 21st stolen base of the season and both runners came home to score on Adam Giacalone's two-run single that gave the Steamers a 3-2 lead.

Jordan Glover gave way to Dustin Quattrocchi in the seventh after Glover hit a batter with one out. Quattrocchi induced a line out to Brenner in center field off the bat of Tony Montalbano and Ryan Parker was doubled off by a strong throw from Brenner to end the inning.

Jordan Egan pitched a perfect eighth inning for Edenton, giving way to Ethan Cole in the ninth to try and lock down the win and his fourth save of the season. Cole walked the leadoff batter but retired the next three Generals hitters to earn the save and secure the 3-2 Steamer victory.

Edenton improved to 21-8 overall and will travel to Morehead City to play the Marlins tomorrow in their fifth non-division game of 2011.
