Blowfish Lose 5th Straight

June 17, 2014 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release

FLORENCE, SC - With the Blowfish having lost 7 of their last 10 games, a trip down I-20 for a tilt against their CPL West division rivals from Florence gave Columbia a chance to halt a 4-game skid.

A run in the bottom of the second proved to be all that RedWolves' pitcher Jacob Milliman would need on the night. Milliman tossed 8 shutout innings and pumped over 65 strikes on 94 pitches.

Trevor Hutto, of USC-Aiken, got the start for Columbia. Hutto lasted 6 innings and gave up 6 hits and 4 runs. Only one run was earned however, as a couple of errors proved costly for the Blowfish.

The RedWolves tacked on a run in the bottom of 3rd, two in the bottom of the 6th, and one in the bottom of the 7th for good measure.

Allen Staton of North Greenville was 2 for 3 with a couple of singles on the night.

Columbia has now lost 5 straight, 8 of their last 11 games, and will return to Florence tomorrow night for another tilt against the RedWolves.

It's a doubleheader against Florence on Wednesday at Capital City Stadium to make up an earlier rainout, and it's a doubleheader on Thursday night against Forest City in resuming a weather suspended game against the Owls.
