Lexington County Blowfish News Release
COLUMBIA, S.C.- On Tuesday evening June 18th, the Columbia Blowfish held host to the (2-14) Petersburg Generals at Capital City Stadium.
The game was a pitchers dual through the seventh inning for both teams. In the top of the eighth inning the Generals took command of the game as they plated four runs off of two errors to take the 4-0 lead over the Blowfish. The big hit of the inning came off the bat from Generals first baseman Dan Johnson (Millersville), as he sent his two RBI double into left field.
The Blowfish answered back in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own off of an RBI single from catcher, Dylan Kelly (Missouri). The Blowfish would then again threaten the Generals in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI single from centerfielder, Erik Barber (UCF). The Blowfish had runners on second and third with two outs, a full count for pinch hitter Lee Howard (Florida State), who stranded the runners to end the game looking at called strike three on the outside corner.
The starting pitcher for the Columbia Blowfish on Tuesday was right-hander, David Duncan, who threw seven innings, giving up three runs, one earned, off of seven hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Coming on in relief in the eighth was right-hander Connor Sullivan (Niagara), throwing two innings, giving up one run off of two hits, one walk and one strike out. Duncan will pick up the loss moving him to (0-3) on the season.
The Starter for the Generals Tuesday was right-hander Brandon Taylor (Christopher Newport), tossing 4.1 innings giving up no runs off of four hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts. Miles McQuaig would come on in relief in the bottom half of the fifth throwing 2.2 innings giving up two runs off of four hits, one walk, and one strike out. Brent Adheen (Tennessee Wesleyan), came on in the eighth and would pick up the save, throwing two innings giving up one run off of three hits no walks, and five strike outs.
The Blowfish are now (11-8) on the season and are sitting in third place of the Western Standings.
The Columbia Blowfish will be back in action at home Friday night June 21st hosting the Asheboro Copperheads. First pitch is set for 7:05pm, gates open at 6pm. It's also CRAFTY BEER NIGHT!

The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
