Lexington County Blowfish News Release
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. - Lexington County fell at home for the first time this evening, dropping their third matchup of the season against Savannah 4-2.
The Blowfish jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the 5th when Brett Auckland (Presbyterian) laced a double into left field scoring Steve Sada (Miami, OH).
Between the pitching of Drew Moody (Georgia), Jesse Bogacz (Kenyon College), and Ryan Flores (Richland College) Savannah was able to keep Lexington County in check before taking the lead in the top half of the 8th.
Savannah would get the leadoff man on in the 8th when Clint Hardy (Augusta University) roped a double down the left field line. Logan Moody (Georgia) plated Hardy on an RBI double to tie Lexington County and then Savannah would go on to score two more in the inning.
The Blowfish threatened in the home half of the 8th, but couldn't bring Clint Carr (Valdosta State) or Brett Auckland (Presbyterian) home after they lead the inning off with back-to-back singles.
Lexington County went down in the 9th after Sada lined back to Flores at the mound who was able to double off Kyle Carruthers at first to end the ballgame.
The Blowfish drop to 8-3 on the season and head up north tomorrow to play the Copperheads in Asheboro. Coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake begins at 6:50 p.m. and first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
