Lahn, SwampDogs Shut Down Stars
June 13, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Matt Lahn (Lock Haven) had not thrown more than three innings in a baseball game in the calendar year until tossing eight and a third superb innings Monday night in the SwampDogs 7-2 win over the Catawba Valley Stars at The Swamp.
Lahn retired 17 straight Stars, from the end of the first until one out in the seventh, and struck out five. Ahead in the count practically all night, Lahn was backed by stellar defense and constant offense.
Dan Neff (Millersville) cut down a runner at home with an incredibly strong and accurate throw and Tyler Tharp (Virginia Military Institute) made a spectacular diving grab to help Lahn settle in.
Nick Maton (Eastern Illinois) and Hunter Dolshun (UMBC) paced the offense with three hits a piece and Jacob Greco (Upper Iowa) smashed his first homer of the year.
While the contest was non-league, the SwampDogs showcased excellent pitching and defense that will be key as they enter game two of a thirteen game stretch against the Wilson Tobs at The Swamp on Tuesday. First Pitch is at 7:05pm for Star Wars Night at The Swamp.
Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 910-426-5900, or by visiting www.goswampdogs.com/tickets.
