The Bloomington PrairieThunder's first ever playoff series begins this weekend with home games at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The Fort Wayne Komets will be the opposition. Like the PrairieThunder, Fort Wayne is playing their first season in the Central Hockey League. The Komets are one of the storied franchises in the history of minor professional hockey having won eight league championships (seven in the former IHL and one in the old UHL).

Turner Conference Quarterfinal Game #1

During the recently completed 2010-11 regular season, Bloomington won the ten game season series over Fort Wayne 7-2-1. At the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, the PrairieThunder went 3-1-1 against the Komets. In the ten game series, Jason Dale led all PrairieThunder in scoring with 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points. Jon Booras had 9 points on 3 goals & 6 assists. For the Komets, Tab Lardner tallied 9 points (5 goals & 4 assists) and Art Podshendyalov & Kaleigh Schrock each had 4 goals & 3 assists for 7 points. In the PrairieThunder goal, Marco Emond went 4-1-2 against Fort Wayne, posting a 2.22 goals against average and a 92.0% save percentage. Brad Phillips was 3-1 with a 3.08 goals against and an 89.5% save percentage.

Following Sunday's game, the series shifts to Fort Wayne for the Wednesday, April 6th third game of the series. In Fort Wayne, Bloomington posted a 4-1 record this year.
