The Kamloops Blazers won 3 of their 4 games over the last week to improve to 31-11-1-1 on the year which is good for second place in the BC Division - 1 point back of the first-place Vancouver Giants with a game in hand. Here's what happened in the Blazers last four games:

Jan 9 @ KELOWNA - KAM-4, KEL-3 OT: CJ Stretch scored the tying goal with 2:25 to play in regulation then added the winning goal at 1:22 of OT as the Blazers rallied from 3-2 down after two periods to edge the Rockets 4-3 last night in Kelowna. Matt Schmermund and Juuso Puustinen also scored for the Blazers as they outshot the Rockets 26-17 on the night. Dustin Butler picked up his league-leading 24th win of the season while Kristofer Westblom took the OTL. The Blazers were 1-for-6 on the PP and 6-for-6 on the PK.

Jan 10 @ SPOKANE - KAM-3, SPO-0: Dustin Butler stopped 21 shots for his sixth shutout of the season as the Blazers blanked the Chiefs 3-0 in Spokane on Wednesday. Alex Rodgers, Tyler Shattock and Terrance Delaronde scored for the Blazers while C.J. Stretch chipped in a pair of assists. Dustin Tokarski stopped 25 of 28 shots he faced in a losing cause for the Chiefs. The Blazers were 0-for-5 on the PP and 6-for-6 on the PK.

Jan 13 vs. PRINCE GEORGE - KAM-6, PG-0: Dustin Butler made 18 saves for his franchise-record 7th shutout of the season as the Blazers blanked the Cougars 6-0 last night at ISC. Ray Macias and Juuso Puustinen each counted 2 goals and an assist, while Tyler Shattock and Ivan Rohác added singles. Alex Rodgers chipped in with 2 assists. Final shots were 34-18 Blazers, including 31-7 after the opening 10 minutes of the game. The Blazers were 1-for-6 on the PP and 6-for-6 on the PK.

Jan 14 vs. TRI-CITIES - TRI-4, KAM-1: Colton Yellow Horn scored twice and added an assist as the Blazers dropped a 4-1 to the Americans at ISC on Sunday night. Yellow Horn and Shaun Vey gave the Ams a 2-0 lead 5 minutes in before Ivan Rohác's second period powerplay goal cut the lead to 2-1. Erik Felde scored a late goal in the second period to restore the 2-goal lead with Yellow Horn rounding out the scoring in the third. Final shots were 28-26 Blazers with Carey Price excellent in the win. Dustin Butler takes the loss. The Blazers were 1-for-5 on the PP. The Ams were 2-for-5.

DEADLINE DEAL

The Blazers made one trade at the WHL's Trade Deadline last Wednesday. The club acquired 18-year-old forward Sasha Golin from the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for 18-year-old forward Matt Schmermund.
