Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB (January 16, 2007) - The second annual Rogers Fan Camp featuring members of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings is scheduled to take place at the Brandon Keystone Centre on February 19th.
The public is encouraged to nominate a favourite minor hockey team with players 10 years of age and under for a fun interactive event. With dinner, private ice time and an autograph session with the Wheat Kings, the Rogers Fan Camp will be an evening to remember for these young players. Deadline for nominations is January 31st.
"So many youngsters throughout Western Manitoba grow up, dreaming of playing in the Keystone Centre," says Wheat Kings' Director of Marketing Rick Dillabough. "Having the chance to skate with some of their hockey heroes on the Keystone Centre ice should be a big thrill for these young boys and girls. I know that our players look forward to this event and the Wheat Kings are excited to be a part of this special event again this year."
Members of the Wheat Kings include the likes of Florida Panthers second draft choice Tyler Plante; Winnipeg's Codey Burki - a second round pick of the Colorado Avalanche; St. Louis Blues' draft pick Ryan Reaves as well as Slovakian born right-winger Juraj Simek, a Vancouver Canucks' draft choice who recently skated for Switzerland at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden.
"Rogers is a proud partner and supporter of the Brandon Wheat Kings and the local community," says Laura Kwiatkowski, General Manager of Rogers Communications Inc., Midwest Region. "The Rogers Fan Camp is an excellent opportunity for us to acknowledge and reward the hard working volunteer coaches and dedicated hockey players who play for the fun of the game."
Nominations must be received by January 31st. Email the team, age(s) of players, coach's name and contact information to fan.camp@rci.rogers.com. The minor hockey teams must be from the Initiation, Novice or Atom level. Five teams will be randomly selected on February 2nd.
