Rapid City Rush News Release
(Oklahoma City, OK) - On Tuesday night, the Rapid City Rush faced the Oklahoma City Blazers to start their final road trip of the season. For the second straight game, the Blazers would come out on top, this time with a 4-0 shutout victory.
For the second consecutive game, the Blazers wasted no time in getting on the board. After a breakaway save by Lanny Ramage, Ted Vandermeer was able to bat home a rebound to make it 1-0 just 37 seconds into the first period. The Blazers doubled their lead with a goal from Josh Patterson who was assisted by Jeff MacDermid and Stacey Bauman at the 11:12 mark.
Immediately after the goal, the Rush would win their first battle of the night as Jason Goulet and Robin Gomez dropped the mitts. After the opening 20 minutes, shots in the first were dominated by Oklahoma City 17-8.
Oklahoma City would extend their lead with another early goal in the second period. Bill Vandermeer fired a slapshot past Rush goaltender Lanny Ramage just 1:10 into the period. The Vandermeer goal proved to be the only tally of the period as the Blazers again owned the shot category 12-7.
In the third, DJ Jelitto would score the lone powerplay of the game as he tallied at the 3:39 mark and was assisted by Eric Przepiorka and Stacey Bauman.
