Jeff Lund Wins CHL Rick Kozuback Award

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Jeff Lund of the Tulsa Oilers has been named the recipient of the 2008-09 Central Hockey League Rick Kozuback award. Lund is the Oilers owner and team President. The Rick Kozuback award, honoring the original President of the Western Professional Hockey League and current President/CEO of Global Entertainment Corporation (the CHL's parent company), is âpresented annually to the Central Hockey League owner, front office staff member, coach or player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and commitment to the game, sport and business of hockey.'
Lund has been with the Oilers since the early 90's originally serving as the team's General Manager, a role he served when the Oilers won the CHL Championship in 1993. He later purchased the team (1999) and has been the team visionary that worked through numerous hurdles to secure a lease for the team to play in the new BOK Center (one of the finest facilities in all of sports, opened in the Fall/2008). The Oilers have increased attendance by more than 1,200 fans per game from last season.
Lund has battled back from cancer while not missing a beat serving on the CHL's Board of Directors. As one of the directors, Lund has an impact in the overall operation, policy and guidance of the league. He has also taken the challenge of serving on the league's executive bargaining committee during the current Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations with the Professional Hockey Players Association.
"Jeff has been nothing but a pleasure to work with for the past decade," said Kozuback. "He has battled through so much, both personally and professionally, serving as a true inspiration for not only myself but for everyone in the extended CHL family."
The CHL Coach of the Year and CHL Rookie of the Year will be announced on Thursday with the CHL's Most Valuable Player award being announced on Monday, March 23rd.
