Blazers Acquire Watson from Memphis

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League acquired forward Ryan Watson from the Memphis RiverKings, head coach Doug Sauter announced today.

Watson, a 6-3, 200-pound native of Lethbridge, Alberta skated with the Memphis RiverKings last season. In 64 games, he recorded 59 points (25-34-59) and served 48 penalty minutes. His goal, assist and point totals were all career highs.

The 25-year old Watson played two seasons with Oklahoma City, recording 74 points (38-36-74) and serving 99 penalty minutes in 118 games played. In 215 games played as a pro, he has scored 152 points (75-77-152) and served 181 penalty minutes.

"Ryan is a solid player who would certainly fill a need we have up front," said Sauter. "He has had offers to play in Europe this season, but we felt we would take a chance on obtaining his rights. Brandon Rose has his #18 sweater ready for him to wear."

The Blazers have signed 11 players for the 06-07 season, including veterans Tyler Fleck, Marty Standish and Peter Robertson as well as returnees Graham Dearle, Garrett Prosofsky and Sean Connors. The puck drops on the Blazers historic 15th season October 20 at the Ford Center against the Bossier-Shreveport MudBugs.
