Baltimore Blast News Release

Baltimore – Baltimore Blast General Manager Kevin Healey announced today that defender Jeff Hare has signed a five-game/15-day contract and will play for the Blast this Saturday night in Cleveland. Hare, a graduate of Princeton University, has been training with the Blast all season.

"Jeff has worked very hard in practice and has earned this opportunity," Healey said. "With our injury situation, he will certainly get his chance to perform."

Hare, a native of Richmond, Va., was a four-year starter at Princeton and led the team in scoring with eight points his senior year. A two-time Tigers team captain, he was named All-Ivy League for three consecutive seasons and All-Region First Team in 2003. The 6-1, 170-pound defender captained the Richmond Strikers Club Team to the Virginia State Cup Championship before playing at Princeton.

In other Blast news, forwards Denison Cabral and Carlos Garcia underwent successful knee surgery last week. Both players were injured on November 12 against the Milwaukee Wave and are expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Cabral, Baltimore's all-time leading scorer, had ACL surgery and Garcia had his ACL and MCL repaired. Danny Kelly and Adilson DeLima are also out this weekend with knee injuries, though both are expected to return to the playing field at the end of the month. Due to team's injury situation, the Blast has signed Tony McPeak to a second five-game/15-day contact and still has three games remaining on the short-term contracts signed by Tim Wittman and Machel Millwood.

The Blast (2-6, third in the Eastern Division) will play in Cleveland this Saturday night, December 4 then will return to 1st Mariner Arena to host the Milwaukee Wave on Friday, December 10. The team will travel to Chicago on Saturday, December 11.
