
Blast Players Named to All-MASL Second and Third Teams

(Baltimore, MD) The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the All MASL Second and Third Teams for the 2018-19 season. Voting was available to all MASL players, staff, head coaches, and general managers. This season, Blast midfielder Jonatas Melo was selected to the All-MASL Second Team. Midfielder Tony Donatelli and Goalkeeper William Vanzela were named to the All-MASL Third Team.
Jonatas Melo's selection to the All-MASL Second Team highlights a breakout season for the fifth-year midfielder. Melo posted career-bests in games played (23), goals (19), assists (22), and points (41). He led the Blast team in assists and points this year, while also ranking second in the Eastern Division in points and first in the Eastern Division in assists. Melo was selected to the MASL Team of the Week twice this season.
Midfielder Tony Donatelli collects his second All-MASL selection with his selection to the All-MASL Third Team this season. Donatelli's first All-MASL selection was for the 2017-18 season, where he was a member of the All-MASL Second Team. Donatelli has posted double-digit goals, assists, and blocks for five out of his seven seasons with the Blast. He was selected to the MASL Team of the Week three times this season. Donatelli ranks 12th all-time in goals scored and 13th all-time in assists, for the Baltimore Blast.
Goalkeeper William Vanzela scoops his fifth All-MASL selection in five years playing for the Blast in the MASL. His selection to the All-MASL Third Team is just another addition to an impressive amount of accolades with the Blast. Vanzela posted the best save percentage in the regular season this year, stopping 75.3% of the shots he faced. His Goals against Average was third best in the league, conceding only 4.09 goals per game. Vanzela led the team in MASL Team of the Week selections with four this season.
The All-MASL First Team selections and Major Award nominees will be announced Friday May 3rd. The winners of each Major Award will be announced on Saturday May 4th.
