Blast Defeat Florida 7-6

Led by 2 goals each from Lucas Roque and Tony Donatelli

The Blast held off a late Florida rally to defeat the Tropics 7-6 for their fourth straight win. In front of a crowd of 1,741, Lucas Roque and Tony Donatelli each scored 2 goals for the Blast. Freddy Moojen scored 2 goals for the Tropics.

It was a back-and-forth first half between the teams. Jamie Thomas opened the scoring to give the Blast a 1-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Florida then scored the first of three goals in 30 seconds between the two teams. Ricardo Diegues scored two goals for the Tropics, with a Blast goal by Tony Donatelli sandwiched in between. Lucas Roque would then score two straight goals in the second quarter to give the Blast a 4-2 halftime lead.

The Blast got off to a quick start in the second half, scoring 13 seconds into the 3rd quarter on a goal by Adriano Dos Santos. The teams would then trade goals early in the fourth quarter. Andrew Hoxie and Tony Donatelli scored for the Blast, with a Tropics goal by Lucas Teixeira in between. Florida would then score three straight goals late in the quarter to bring the game within 1. The Blast killed off a late penalty to hold on for a 7-6 win.

Adriano Dos Santos recorded two points on the night, one goal and one assist. Blast goalie William Vanzela also recorded an assist. The Blast went 1-2 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill. Dos Santos' goal was a shorthanded goal. Florida's Lucas Coutinho had two assists in the game and Tropics goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa recorded 11 saves in the game.

The Blast next play tomorrow, Saturday, January 16th at 7:05 p.m. in Harrisburg against the Heat. The game can be streamed online at MASL.tv or on the MASL app.
