Salt Lake Bees News Release

Fresno scored early and often, as the Grizzlies downed the Salt Lake Bees 6-4 on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Jose Miguel Fernandez, but Fresno came back with one run in the second, one in the third and four in the fourth. All of those runs came off of Salt Lake starter Ivan Pineyro (0-4). The Bees had opportunities to rally, as they had runners at first and second with no outs in the sixth, but did not score. Jose Briceno led off the seventh with a double, but never advanced past second base.

Jabari Blash closed the gap with a three run homer in the eighth, his eleventh of the season, and the next two batters reached base, but were stranded at first and second. Salt Lake was just 2 for 13 as a team with runners in scoring position. The Bees bullpen gave the team a chance to come back, as Akeel Morris, Ian Krol, Taylor Cole and Eduardo Paredes combined to throw four and one-third scoreless innings. Fernandez had two hits and a run batted in to extend his on base streak to 23 games. Kaleb Cowart and Briceno each added two hits, as the Bees drop to 2-4 on their current road trip.
