Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle squandered a one-run lead in the ninth inning, before Travis Blankenhorn delivered a tenth inning walk-off single to lead the Miracle past the Bradenton Marauders, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium.

Blankenhorn's smash to center scored Ryan Costello from third to set off a raucous celebration. The win moved the Miracle to within 0.5 games of Charlotte after the Stone Crabs fell to Daytona, 5-3.

Down to their final out in the ninth, Bradenton tied the game on a Bligh Madris single.

The Miracle took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Travis Blankenhorn doubled and after Shane Carrier struck out, moved to third on an Aaron Whitefield bunt single. Whitefield would then steal second before Ernie De La Trinidad drove in Blankenhorn with a sacrifice fly to center.

Miracle starter Andro Cutura tossed six scoreless innings but took a no-decision. He scattered five hits and has allowed just three earned runs over his last 31 innings pitched.

Ryan Mason tossed two scoreless innings out of the Miracle bullpen before giving way to Adam Bray. Bray blew the save after allowing a run on three hits in the ninth. Alex Phillips (1-0), who was signed out of the Frontier League this week, earned the win with a scoreless tenth.

Pedro Vasquez collected a no-decision for Bradenton after allowing one run in six innings. The right-hander allowed five hits. Jordan Jess (3-5) took the loss after giving up Blankenhorn's single.

Whitefield went 2-4 to log his third straight multi-hit game.

The four-game series continues on Wednesday night. Clark Beeker (4-7. 4.73) will take the mound for the Miracle. He'll square off against Gavin Wallace (3-3, 5.54). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
