Bradenton Marauders News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - After a delay of 35 minutes before Monday night's game began, the Bradenton Marauders dropped the first game of the final series of the year on the road against the Fort Myers Miracle. In the fourth consecutive Marauders contest affected by rain, neither side plated a run until the fifth inning and Bradenton failed to score until the top of the ninth in a rain-soaked loss.
LHP Domingo Robles turned in another solid start after he was roughed around in his team debut just over a month ago. Robles worked through seven innings for the second time in his four Marauders starts while allowing a pair of runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk included. Robles did not allow a base runner until Twins #3 Prospect Alex Kiriloff knocked a base hit and was brought in on a Caleb Hamilton double to get the scoring started. Kiriloff factored in to both of the home side's additional runs with RBI singles in the sixth and eighth innings scoring Aaron Whitefield on both occasions to make the score 3-0 heading in to the final inning. LHP Jake Brentz registered two innings of relief, giving up a single run on two hits on 18 pitches, 16 of which were for strikes.
In the top of the final inning, Albert Baur got Bradenton's run scoring started with a leadoff single and was moved to third on Mitchell Tolman's 16th double of the season to set up Jason Delay, who capped a ball off the end of the bat that found a hole in the middle of the infield that brought around the Marauders only two runs to score.
The Marauders continue their final series of the year against the Fort Myers Miracle on Tuesday night at 7, with RHP Pedro Vasquez looking for his first win of 2018 with Bradenton on the hill to start.
