Saskatoon Blades defenseman Teigan Zahn (Bethune, SK) will have season-ending surgery on Friday to repair a broken ankle suffered in the team's 4-1 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday.

Zahn, a 19-year-old draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, is in his fourth season with the Blades. This season, he had dressed in 44 games and had three assists to go along with 84 penalty minutes.

"Losing a player of Teigan's stature is going to be a major loss for our club," said Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken. "What it means going forward is an increased workload on our younger defensemen."
