Saskatoon Blades News Release

SASKATOON, SK -- The Saskatoon Blades announced Tuesday forward Smyth Rebman has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement.

The 15-year-old from Kelowna, BC was selected in the third-round, 62nd overall, by the Blades in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft earlier this month.

"Smyth is a competitive, high character centerman who won't be very much fun to play against," stated Blades director of scouting Dan Tencer. "He competes relentlessly in all areas of the ice every shift and has continued to show incremental growth in his game consistently throughout the season."

In 16 games with RINK Hockey Academy's U18 program in Kelowna, Rebman has nine goals and five assists for 14 points, sitting fourth in team scoring.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound sniper also has two games of junior hockey experience, receiving a call-up from the Kelowna Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) this season, where he's posted 12 penalty minutes.

Rebman is the third member of the 2021 draft class to sign a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Blades, following second-round selection Zachary Moore, and fellow teammate Evan Gardner who was chosen 53rd overall.

"Offensively, Smyth brings real upside with a heavy shot and fantastic release," added Tencer.

"We're very happy to welcome Smyth and his family to Saskatoon and look forward to having him in our uniform in the years to come."
