Saskatoon Blades News Release

Saskatoon Blades forward Curtis Hamilton (Kelowna, BC) and defenseman Stefan Elliott (North Vancouver, BC) were named to the roster of Team WHL for the Subway Super Series on Thursday morning.

The pair becomes the ninth and tenth Blades' players to represent the team at the event since its inception in 2003 and will be featured in Kelowna, BC on Thursday, November 26th in the second of two games involving the WHL.

The Subway Super Series, which takes place from November 16th to 26th, pits all-star teams from the Canadian Hockey League's three member leagues (WHL, OHL, QMJHL) against the Russian national junior team in a six-game run in centres across the country. The games involving Team WHL will occur on Wednesday, November 25th in Victoria, BC and Thursday, November 26th in Kelowna, BC.

Hamilton, who will turn 18 in December, is in his third season in the league and has 5 goals and 7 assists for 12 points through 15 games this season. The left winger represented Canada this past spring at the 2009 World Under-18 Hockey Championships in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota.

Elliott, an 18-year-old, is also in his third WHL season and has 6 goals and 9 assists for 15 points over the first 15 games, good enough for fifth in scoring amongst WHL defensemen. A 2nd round draft pick (49th overall) by the Colorado Avalanche, Elliott was also a member of Team Canada at the World Under-18 Hockey Championships earlier this year.

"With the naming of Curtis and Stefan to the team, it speaks volumes to the character and commitment of both players," commented Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken. "They are both deserving of this privilege and each time they have represented our team in the past have done extremely well and I'm certain they will represent us well again this time."
